SPRINT DUATHLON / TRIATHLON 

Presented by Southern Indiana Triathlon Team

Date:  Saturday, June 26th, 2021- Time:   8am

Races 

  • Sprint Duathlon - 0.6 Mile Run, 12.6 Mile Bike and 3.1 Mile Run 

  • Sprint Triathlon - 700 yds swim, 12.6 Mile Bike and 3.1 Mile Run

6:45 AM – Parking Area Opens (no early arrivals unless you are here to volunteer for set up) 

7:00 AM – 7:45 AM – Transition Opens, Participant Check-In, Body Marking, and Late Bib Pickup 

7:45 AM – Transition Closes 

7:45 AM – Team Picture - plan to wear a team shirt 

7:50 AM – Pre-Race Meeting 

8:00 AM – Duathlon/Sprint start


Body Marking 

All participants will be body marked at athlete check-in. You will have your bib number on both arms and your age (on December 31) on your left calf. Team Photo At 7:45 AM we will be taking a team photo.

Timing 

Timing will be provided by the triathlon team. There will be no awards for this event, but overall results will be posted on the team website within 48 hours of the close of the event.

Safety 

The Southern Indiana Triathlon Team reserves the right to pull anybody from the race for safety and medical purposes, if necessary. The safety and well being of our members is the #1 priority. Restrooms 

There will be two portable toilets at transition.

Water Stops:  They will be at the desirable spots.


EVENT 1 - SPRINT TRIATHLON

Swim Course- 700 yds

Sprint swim will consist of 2 laps counter clockwise in the lake.  You will swim to the “post” then return to the beach, get out of the water and run around the orange cone.  Then reenter for the next lap.


EVENT 1 - SPRINT DUATHLON

Run Route (1st event ) .6 Mile 

   Run will be out turn left from the start and then run to the T and return to transition


EVENT 2 - BOTH SPRINTS

Bike Route- 12.6 

Bike route for next week’s triathlon/duathlon.

Flat and fast -ok, it’s in St.Phillips, so not flat and I am never fast! Lol. However, we did try to avoid the really killer hills in the area with this route!

Sorry, I’m not good at technology so this is a bit rough....it is a 12.8 mile route....do once for sprint, 2x for Oly. Click the photo to see the movement along the route.

Green spot is the start at New Beginnings,

Turn right out of lake area on Middle Mt Vernon to St Phillips Rd.

Right on St. Phillips

Go over the railroad tracks (be careful but they aren’t bad) staying on St Phillips till get to Zaps Tavern.

Left onto Weinzapfel Rd

Right on Wilderman

Left on Upper Mt. Vernon stay here till reach Stierley Rd. (It has a small street sign).

Right on Stierley.

Right on Copperline.

Zion-Lippe church will be on left when you reach Ford Rd. (Also marked with small sign)

Right on Ford.

Left on Upper Mt Vernon (you’ve made a loop and are on same road you came out on.)

Right on Wilderman

Left on Weinzapfel rd

Right on St Phillips (you are back at the tavern)

Go over the railroad tracks

Left on Middle Mt Vernon back to the lake

(Repeat for Oly)


EVENT 3 - BOTH SPRINTS

Run Route - 1.5  this is an out and back

You will run from the transition area to the New Beginnings building then back to the east entrance of the parking lot.  Then cross the road onto Boehleber Rd.  Follow Boehleber road  and cross St Phillips onto Sunset Drive.  Run to the end of the road to the turn around and return to the finish line.
